Cape Coral has hundreds of miles of both fresh and salt water canals; some of which are direct Gulf access, or sailboat access meaning no bridges to go under to access the Gulf of Mexico. Others are Gulf access, which means you will have to go under at least one bridge, which limits boat size.
Fresh water canals take you to lake areas, but are not Gulf access, but do have great fresh water fishing. River front properties are also available on the Caloosahatchee.
There are wonderful books about the development of Cape Coral and its canals. We invite you to come see for yourself, you will be amazed.
